  • SELF HELP GROUP PROMOTED BY CRS WINS STATE AWARD
  • February 11, 2010 by BoscoMangaal | Edit

  • SELF HELP GROUP PROMOTED BY CRS WINS STATE AWARD
  • RECOGNITION BY THE NATIONAL CO-OPERATIVE UNION OF INDIA
  • The National Co-operative Union of India, under its Women Co-operation Education Project, has conferred an award to the Shinnaishang SHG, Sagolband Bijoy Govinda, Imphal West, Manipur`, for over-all excellence in performance in the past one year. The Shinnaishang was one of the SHGs promoted by Bosco Mangaal, Don Bosco, Chingmeirong, Imphal under CRS’s programme for the prevention of Drug Abuse & HIV/AIDS. Besides its successful functioning in the economic field, the group has been deeply involved in social services, particularly the spread of preventive information of HIV/AIDS to the general public. The members, individually and as a group, participate in local functions, co-operate in keeping the locality clean, etc., ever since the formation of the group in 2004. In recognition of their services in the field of social work, the NCUI, Women Co-operative Education Project , Imphal East  awarded the group’KHWAIRAKPAM FAMILY AWARD FOR THE YEAR 2008 donated by Dr. Kh. Loken Singh, Hon’ble MLA and Chairman, PDA, Manipur. The award consists of a certificate and a sum of Rs.1000/-.
  • The Shinnaishang SHG was formed on 20th December 2004 after a month’s motivation by the staff of Bosco Mangaal, the social service wing of Don Bosco, Imphal. The group had 11 members. The members were parents of the children in our Literacy centre. Hence, they are among the poorest in the community since the literacy centre was established to initiate non-school going children to the pleasures of learning and then to motivate them and their parents so that they enter the mainstream of regular education.
  • The group was followed up on monthly basis by the animators of Don Bosco. The members were given training in skills like Food Processing, Detergent making, Mushroom Cultivation, Book Keeping, etc. By that time the political pressures came into the picture as state elections were approaching. Local MLAs were interested in promoting SHGs to increase their political clout. They formed their own SHGs as well as poached existing ones promoted by other groups. The Shinnaishang group also decided to join their local MLA’s network. They moved out in the month of May 2006. We also decided to be happy with their decision. It had always been the policy of CRS that no cash would be given to our groups. Instead they were to be empowered find other sources of funds. Our ultimate aim was that our groups should become self-supporting and able to go on with the minimum possible support from us. We also discussed the matter Mr. Gopen Moses, the then State Representative of CRS, Guwahati , and Mr. Mark, the then country Representative during their visit in Imphal.
  • After three months, the group came back to us and requested us to re- enroll under us and pay them follow up visits as they had received only financial support and nothing of the more important support an SHG needs. They had received a loan from the local MLA, but did not know what to do with the loan. We decided to pay attention to the group especially because they were skillful and capacitated for bringing changes in society. Thus they became ‘our’ group once again on 15th September 2006 with 10 members. After the re-organization they were given training and awareness programmes on Peace Building, Disaster Management, Sexuality & Reproductive Health, Basic Facts of HIV/AIDS, Herbal Soap Making, etc. With the objective of PANI-II that the SHG members become agents of reaching out to the masses regarding HIV awareness, we gave them repeated trainings on HIV/AIDS as was done also for our other leading groups.
  • In the community awareness programmes conducted by Bosco Mangaal,Don Bosco Chingmeirong in the locality of the groups, the members spoke on Basic Facts of HIV/AIDS. The group had become capable of taking sessions on the topic for the public. In the Prevention Week we observed from 1st December 2007- 7th December 2007, they participated actively in the poster campaign conducted in the locality.
  • They have been participating in the famous state festival called “Heikru Hidongba” by opening roadside  hotels under the banner of their group and Bosco Mangaal, Don Bosco Chingmeirong. They earn from small Income Generating Activities they do from time to time. They said, Through the various trainings we received from Bosco Mangaal we got strengthened not only in economic development but also in social development. All the members are capacitated now and we can help people in our neighbourhood regarding prevention of drug abuse and HIV Infection. Thanks to Bosco Mangaal”. Now the group carries on with its regular meetings and keeps up its social activities as well as income generating activities on its own.
  • The above is only one case history. There are several others groups in Imphal promoted by Bosco Mangaal which are going on effectively without much help from others. We formed 83 SHGS under the prevention of HIV/AIDS programme of CRS. One group, the CHAOKAT KHONGTHANG SHG, WANGKHEI PUKHRAMBA LEIRAK, IMPHAL gives awareness of HIV/AIDS to the public through Skit Plays that themselves write and produce. Many other groups speak about the prevention of drug abuse & HIV Infection in local functions. Several groups have succeeded in participating in decision making meetings in their localities. The MANGAAL SHG, WANGKHEI LOUREMBAM LEIRAK, IMPHAL got involved in improving the functioning of the government school in their locality. During PANI II (Prevention of AIDS in North East India) programme the SHG members, students, teachers and youths were capacitated to give preventive information to the general public. The story, fortunately, goes on …..
  • We are very much thankful to CRS for their support not only in terms of funds but also for the physical and mental support that the Partner Support Officers have been giving.
  • 1.    Members of Shinnaishang SHG during ginger pickle preparation
  • 2.    All the members in the group.

  • CONGRATULATION TO “SHINNAISHANG SHG”, SAGOLBAND BIJOY GOVINDA, IMPHAL

  • Our logo
  • February 11, 2010 by BoscoMangaal | Edit
  • Our logo is an excellent summary of all that BOSCO MANGAAL is.
  • ‘Bosco’ is the family name of John Bosco, a Catholic priest who lived in Italy in the 19th century, worked for the marginalised youth of his time, mostly through non-formal and vocational education, and founded a society to continue his work for the Young at Risk around the world. Bosco Mangaal was founded by Fr M C George, a Salesian of Don Bosco, in order to carry forward the work of John Bosco (Don Bosco – Fr Bosco) on behalf of the disadvantaged youth of Manipur in the style and spirit of Fr John Bosco.
  • ‘M’ stands for ‘Mangaal’, the Meetei word for ‘light’. We have chosen to use the local language to remind us of our intention to be totally one with our people. Our target group consists of the simplest and weakest of the people of Manipur. They are not foreign to us; we are not foreign to them. We are the same people. Secondly, we shall use local resources to the maximum, particularly our local human resources, our culture and all the strengths of our society.
  • We believe that education is the ‘light’ for the mind. It lights up the world around. Through education we are able to see ourselves better and all of the world around us. We want the light of education to reach the weakest sections of our community. Empowerment, through education in all its forms, will remain the main focus of the work of Bosco Mangaal.
  • The globes above the letter ‘M’ look like the natural sources of light God has provided the earth with. There are three of them. We wish to offer anabundance of the light of education to those in the darkness of ignorance.
  • The letter ‘M’ also looks like three persons with their arms linked. Our mission is with the people, for the people, by the people. We like to look at our work as a co-operative one among three equal partners: our donors, our ‘beneficiaries’, and ourselves. We will not sacrifice our fundamental principles merely to obtain financial support, nor will we treat our ‘beneficiaries’ as mere receivers of aid. We wish to be respected by our donors as their equal partners and we wish our ‘beneficiaries’ to be equal partners with us, making the maximum contribution they are capable of. They will thus maintain their dignity as agents of their own growth and development.
  • The three persons that form the letter ‘M’ are depicted as though in motion. They are moving forward or are performing dance. We do everything with an optimistic view of life and people. We do our work with enthusiasm and joy. We wish to be dynamic and innovative in our approach to the realities of the world around us.

  • Two-Day State-Level Seminar on HIV/AIDS: New Perspectives, New Strategies Organised by the IGNOU Imphal RC on the 8th and –9th March 2008

    CONCEPT PAPER
The HIV/AIDS epidemic today, has become not only a public health issue but also one that is seriously affecting the dynamics of social, cultural, economic and developmental pace of the society. Factors that were once considered to be the main causes of the disease and preventive measures prescribed have become superfluous in the face of HIV/AIDS mutating itself into society, in forms, such as poverty, crime, culture, religion, environment, commerce, traditional practices, discrimination and so on. As such, new perspectives for the control of the spread of HIV/AIDS need to be explored. Progress has been made in developing microbicide or virucides and anti-infective medication formulated for topical self-administration to protect against HIV/AIDS. But this must be supported by extensive educational campaigns geared to empower health workers, persons working in the field of HIV/AIDS and the general public for a knowledge and skill-based confrontation of the pandemic.
The magnitude of the HIV/AIDS predicament has, unfortunately, been misrepresented through macro-level statistics and analyses. This has, in turn, created the problem of forging effective partnerships in the field with clear objectives, trust, complementary expertise and mutual benefits for preventive strategies for various stakeholders of society. The coordination between the various agencies, governmental and non-governmental at the grassroots is almost non-existent. A robust strategy against the Virus, it must be acknowledged, goes beyond the ability of a single entity.
Manipur has been trapped in this tragic drama, not only in terms of figures but also in the interplay of the politics and economics surrounding HIV/AIDS prevention and care. Even as the state ranks very high in HIV/AIDS infection in India, intervention in various forms has either been too slack or has been riddled with organizational, administrative, infrastructural and other problems. The serious concern, however, has been the increasing incidences of affliction bringing to the fore the question of whether the various agencies with the resources at their disposal can actually bring about some rationality even as the Manipur HIV/AIDS time-bomb ticks to countdown.
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has been a proactive partner in the fight against HIV/AIDS. With educational courses already designed to create a resource pool of experts. IGNOU is now determined to venture into the field to recognize the enormity of the crisis. To showcase its initiatives, the IGNOU Regional Centre Imphal is organizing a two-day state-level seminar titled “HIV/AIDS: New Perspectives New Strategies“ on 8-9 March 2008 at Asha Hall, Asha-Jina Complex, North AOC, Imphal. It is also our wish to collaborate with your organization / institution on this issue in the future. You are most cordially invited. IGNOU Regional Centre, Imphal
    REPORT
    INTRODUCTION
The rationale behind the initiative by the Indira Gandhi National University (IGNOU) Regional Centre, lmphal, to conduct a two-day seminar on HIV/AIDS: New Perspectives, New Strategies, was:
1     to showcase IGNOU’s activities in the field of HIV / AIDS.
2     to present a different perspective from the usual clinical-based Dos & Don’ts by locating the enormity of the HIV / AIDS crisis in Manipur in the socio-psychological make of the different peoples in the state.
3     to get to know the various agencies already working in the field for future reference and collaboration and
4    to get the feel of how best IGNOU can contribute to the fight against the virus in Manipur.
To a large extent the above objectives were realized in the following manner:
First, the seminar was attended by representatives from 114 NGOs / Organisations .The total participants were roughly 450-500 although only 390 persons formally sent in their names for registration. All the 9 districts of Manipur were represented. The break-up was as follows:
Sl. No                      District                                                        No. of Delegates
    1      Imphal(E) + Imphal (W)+ Bishnupur + Thoubal                  224
    2                        Ukhrul                                                                  66
    3                        Senapati                                                             45
    4                        Tamenglong                                                         04
    5                        Chandel                                                              22
    6                        Churachandpur                                                   29
    Total 390
Secondly, a session on the first day included a PP presentation by Dr. Bina Anthony on IGNOU and its activities with particular reference to HIV / AIDS and Social Work. Many of the delegates saw IGNOU in a much different light from the hearsay opinions they had.
Thirdly, topics which included HIV / AIDS in Manipur: The Socio-Cultural Context (Fr. MC George, Director Bosco Mangal). HIV / AIDS and the Polities of Violence in Manipur (Dr Joseph Kuba, Asst. Reg. Director, IGNOU), HIV / AIDS: Strategising for Effective Care and Support (Prof K.Saratchandra, Dept. of Anthropology, Manipur University), Youth in the Prevention and Control of AIDS (Dr Khomdon S. Lisam, Former Director, Manipur AIDS Control Society), HIV / AIDS in Manipur: State’s Response (Dr Pramod Kumar Singh, Director, Manipur AIDS Control Society). HIV/AID Scenario in India: Where are we? (Prof Gracious Thomas) HIV / AIDS: Stigma and Discrimination (Prof Neil Abell, Florida State University USA) and Virology. Pathogenesis and HIV Testing (Dr.Ng. Brajachand Singh, Prof & HOD, Dept. of Microbiology, RIMS) covered much of the concerns that has been real to Manipur vis-ã-vis the AIDS epidemic.
Finally, a special panel was formed at the end of the second day to examine the feedback from the participants and streamline activities which IGNOU may take up as a follow-up of the two-day seminar. The panel identified the following from the feedbacks as future reference points for IGNOU:
1     such seminars should also he conducted in the hill districts.
2     the need for IGNOU to identify NGOs working in the field and collaborate with them on the issue of HIV / AIDS.
3     future programmes on HIV/AIDS should be in the form of workshops so that there is more discussion and participation of the delegates.
4     a gender-based sensitizing policy on HIV / AIDS needs to be incorporated in the overall strategy.
5     IGNOU should conduct more seminars / workshops and also could take up awareness activities such as painting, essay writing, debate, speech                competitions. etc.
6    papers presented at the seminar should be made available to the delegates.
7     a course on HIV/AIDS must be made compulsory for high and higher secondary students and in all courses offered by IGNOU. Such a course is a must             for BEd. students. IGNOU could think about subsidized education plan on HIV / AIDS for students and NGO functionaries.
8    paper presentation in the vernacular need to be explored since most of the delegates will understand the presentation much better.
The response from the delegates about the seminar was very encouraging. The outdoor discussions and discussions with certain resource persons allowed as per request also showed the enthusiastic involvement of the delegates although it must be acknowledged that time was the main constraint. Despite the few glitches that the delegates pointed out regarding shortage of time, more participation etc. in an overall assessment the seminar was a grand success.
    MINUTES OF THE PROGRAMME
    Inaugural Session
The session started with a beautiful rendition of the Bande Mataram by students attired in the traditional dresses of various communities of Manipur. This was followed by the Chief Guest. Shri Jarnail Singh lAS. Chief Secy. Govt. of Manipur, Prof. Gracious Thomas, Dr. R.K. Ranjit Singh and Prof Neil Abell of Florida State University taking their respective chairs and the lighting of the lamp.
    Introductory address: Prof. Gracious Thomas
Prof Gracious Thomas highlighted how IGNOU was established by an Act of parliament and how it had come a long way in working and educating the country. He pointed out that IGNOU has 1.8 million students spread across the globe in 42 countries. It has 60 regional centres and 60,000 study centres throughout the country. IGNOU is the only university having satellite facilities with 6 channels working 24 hrs. At present it is providing studies on HIV/ AIDS. Now India is struggling with HIV/AIDS in which our state Manipur has the largest number of people infected with HIV/ AIDS.
He underlined the fact that 8000 deaths everyday took place from HIV/AIDS. He lamented that when a Jumbo jet crashed with 500 people on board there usually is a big hue and cry while 8000 deaths, equivalent to the crashing of 20 jumbo jets, go unnoticed. He exhorted the delegates to stand up and observe a one-minute silence in honour of the persons dying or awaiting their deaths from the disease. He also presented a documentary “Reflections from HIV Infections in Manipur”. The documentary brought into focus the reality of the HIV tragedy in Manipur and raised the expectations of the delegates from the two-day seminar.
Welcome Address: Dr. R.K.Ranjit Singh, Regional Director, IGNOU RC Imphal
Dr. R.K.Ranjit Singh. Regional Director, IGNOU RC Imphal welcomed the Chief Secretary. Government of Manipur Shri Jarnail Singh and the other dignitaries and the various representatives of the NGOs of the State. He said that IGNOU. the largest University of Open and Distance Learning in India is attempting a fresh look into a very serious human problem of HIV/AIDS epidemic. The HIV/AIDS epidemic. today, has become not only a public health issue hut also one that is seriously affecting the dynamics of social, cultural, economic and developmental aspects of the society. While admitting the progress so far made in developing anti- infective medicines and other remedial strategies to protect against HIV / AIDS we must also admit the fact that there is still the need for extensive educational campaigns among the youths as the spread of the disease is mostly through social, cultural and individual level human contacts which involve diverse human behaviours. Keeping in view such facts, new strategies for containing the further spread of HIV/AIDS need be explored.
He stated that the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has been a proactive partner in the fight against HIV/AIDS with educational courses already designed to arouse a fuller understanding on the disease thereby helping in reducing further spread. Recognizing the enormity of this crisis, the IGNOU is now determined to venture into further new fields which promises more effectiveness in combating the disease.
Inaugural Address: Shri Jarnail Singh IAS, Chief Secretary, Govt. of Manipur
The Chief Guest revealed that HIV/AIDS has completely wiped out the earning member of the family or the children or other in the family. When he was in PMO during 2001 / 2002, Bill Gates came to India and met Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpaiyi, the former Prime Minister and they had discussion on HIV/AIDS. When the PM asked him how long it will take to bring out the vaccine for the disease, Gates replied may be 10 years or so.
Drug trafficking and black marketing of unlawful drugs is the root cause of this disease. Mr. Singh cited an example of drug trafficking route and the aftereffects of the same. He said in Kamjong and Kongkanthana in Ukhrul District almost all the children between 4 to 10 years use drugs and most of them are HIV+ . There are so many NGOs but still these areas are behind the very effective steps required to be taken. Since the younger productive generation is dying we will suffer a lot in future. He thanked the IGNOU for the initiative. Mr. Singh also released the Diploma in HIV/AIDS and Family Education Course Book and handed a copy of it to Prof Neil Abell.

  • Observation of World AIDS Day, 2009
  • December 29, 2009 by BoscoMangaal | Edit
  • OBSERVATION OF WORLD AIDS DAY, 2009 WITH A RED RIBBON CAMPAIGN
  • VENUE- KONGBA BAZAR, CHINGMEIRONG and SANGAKPHAM
  • DATE-1st December, 2009
  • A Report-
  • The World AIDS Day was observed with a red ribbon campaign inside the Kongba Market, passers- by of Kongba Road, Sangakpham Bazar, Passers-by of Chingmeirong, Don Bosco Chingmeirong etc. on 1st December, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • We had a special meeting on 28th November, 2009 on the observation of this day. We resolved to do a ribbon campaign in the market and nearby areas of our PLC and main office at Don Bosco Chingmeirong. We expected to cover 1000 people.
  • Although the campaign was organized in a very simple way, it was appreciated by the communities nearby and participated interestingly in the campaign. Local media personnels were also present in the campaign and published in news paper. The women vendors were informed about the referral they can do to our PLC if there is anyone who wants to get tested or get information on HIV/AIDS. One of the Women vegetable vendor said, “It is very good that we have a centre where we can get information on HIV/AIDS nearby the market and we also learnt that you are doing good and effective service. We are proud of you. Wish you all the best” The remark was inspiring note to us as the secondary objective of the programme was to pass out the information of the services in our PLC. Another Ima (woman vendor) said, “My son was given support by you when he was alive. I was satisfied with your service. If you had come earlier, my son would have been saved. But it was destined for him. I am poor so I will contribute 10 rupees for you.”She cried and contributed 10 rupees. Her son was referred to MNP+, LIFEAID, Kakwa and we gave counseling to him and his family along with regular visits when he was seriously sick. Unluckily he suffered from HCV co infection and the family was not able to afford the treatment. Surprisingly, the Imas (mothers in the market) contributed little amount they could and it was collectively Rs. 520/-. The amount is kept in common fund. It will be utilized in the next World AIDS Day, 2010. There was no plan for collecting money from anyone but all came out willingly. This shows that people are ready to support for the cause if they are motivated and informed the importance of community involvement.
  • The commando police personnels posted at Kongba also participated in the campaign. One of them said, “It is good that you do the campaign in such a way that you organize small with less expenses in spite of organizing big programmes. I see some people are observing the day as if it is an entertaining day. Go ahead. We shall help you if needed. We shall involve if informed”. The remark shows that it was an effective campaign though small. One man who came to the market said, “My children (Ichasha), It is good that you observe the day with small expenses. Let us know the value of the observation. Now you give at least some information in the market. The Imas here never attend programme related with HIV since they are busy in their daily business. This is a wise step.” We received lots of appreciation from the people on the way of observation. We also felt that such type of giving out information is also necessary to fill the gap.
  • We were not able to give full information about the slogan and theme of the World AIDS Day, 2009. However, we were able to make everyone feel that there are many more things we have to do for the People Living with HIV. This shows that we all need to know the importance of universal access by the People Living with HIV and the rights everyone should enjoy in his or her life.
  • The Campaign ended at 2 p.m.

  • Today I visited the family of Kishan accompanied by K Gopen of Yairipok, who was a classmate of Kishan. We spent some time with his father, wife, elder daughter and his younger brother who studied in DB Langjing.
  • I was on my way to Jiribam when we got the news of the gruesome murder.
  • Let me say this – I am proud of Kishan and I am proud of all of you who rose up unitedly with so much fervour, pain, creativity, love for our land and people, and mobilised yourselves to get something done. A professor from DM College who was in the delgation from the college that visited the family while we were, said, “Fr George, you formed Kishan too well. He was too good.” Thinking of all the mails I had read this morning I said, “I am happy he is not the only one. There are other Bosconians, too, who carry their own torch in their own way, or who will now pick up the torch fallen from Kishan’s hand and keep pushing ahead to where we want our people to be.”
  • Congrats. I feel proud of you all. Keep up the good fight.
  • (P.S. I went to Jiribam with three staff members to study the need and possibilities for work for the poorest children of that sub-division in the lines of what we are now doing through Bosco Mangaal from Chingmeirong.)

George Menamparmapil, sdb who has the vast  experience of dealing with youths when he was International Chaplain of MIJARC for 8 years, four years (1998 – 2002) in the national animation team of the Salesians of Don Bosco for India – DBYA-India, responsible for the animation of all groups and movements run by Salesians in India – including the scouts and guides -  co-ordination of all Salesian work for the ‘Young at Risk’ – street children, slum children, drug addicts, HIV-infected, school drop-outs, tribals, dalits, orphans, the handicapped etc. He started the services of Bosco Mangaal in October, 2002 with one Intensive course (Leapfrog course) centre at Laipham Khunou and one Literacy Centre at Paomai Colony. He felt the need that the poorest of the poor children in Manipur and they should be provided educational facilities by providing a bridge to the formal school. He also opened a Youth Centre in the campus of Don Bosco Chingmeirong with a hope to help the young people in and around Imphal with facilities of library, small gym, indoor & outdoor games facilities. Fr. M.C. George with his tireless effort and innovative ideas motivated the teachers in Literacy Centre and Intensive Course. No wonder, the first intensive course brought success that one student from the centre stood 17th Position in Matric Examination, 2008. It was not the only surprising news but many of the students got high marks in other examination and when they went to the regular school, they became the rank holders. In 2004, the number of literacy centres increased and services were also expanded to Formation of Self Help Groups Amongst Urban Poor with a hope that parents should be able to earn to send their children to regular schools. Through awareness campaigns 11 SHGs were formed for the first time and the numbers of groups increased to 65 groups within two and half years. Seeing the need of the health among the poor people in Manipur and also in the risk of getting HIV, in 2004 itself, he expanded the services to Prevention of Drug Abuse & HIV Infection among the Youths in Imphal. The three projects went on successfully through integrated approach. The service of Prevention activities was able to reach many numbers of schools, clubs and general people as well. Counselling Services in schools was the first of its kind in Manipur providing a space for the students in High & Higher Secondary Schools. It was provided to 25 schools. One new youth centre was opened in collaboration with one local club in Lamphel. The youth centre is being shifted from place to place till today. A mini library, mini gym, counseling services to the youths, indoor and outdoor games facilities are being provided in the youth centres. In 2005, Primary Schools Teachers Training was added to the services of Bosco Mangaal. 13 schools have been adopted since then. The teachers have been given training for creating environment of joyful learning among the primary students. The schools have been given regular follow up that the teachers are able to make out their mistakes and learn to improve themselves through regular follow up. They are given suggestion for improvement. Then Bosco Mangaal added the services of Youth & Peace Programmes also in 2005. Within this programme, many activities have been conducted especially for the young people in and around Imphal. Fr. M.C. George then started a very innovative idea of mobile library also. The library moves from place to place with more than 50 books in plastic marketting bags. It helps many children in literacy centres, intensive course centres, schools where counseling services are given, schools adopted under Primary School Teachers Training etc etc. In 2006, Community Schools were established in the rural areas of Manipur where many adolescents have been given non- formal education. There are many other services like Educational Support to the poorest of the poor children in Manipur and Children living with & Affected by HIV, Vocational Support to the young people, Income Generation Activities for the Women living with & Affected by HIV, Life Skills Education Programme for the youths, students and teachers etc.
  • Today, the Bosco Mangaal has a wide range of services to reach out the young people in general, poor children who do not get the opportunity to attend schools, children living with & affected by HIV and the people living with & affected by HIV. The staffs are sent to capacity building trainings at different places of India so as to enable them to deal with the activities or programmes implemented. The Bosco Mangaal, started with only two staff now reaches to more than 50 regular staff and many numbers of field staff.  The staffs are the members of different communities in Manipur
